This vision for the city of Newry and its hinterland is all about big ideas. It is designed to complement the Newry city strategic framework and its aims to make you think big. Because we know that it takes big ideas to make big things happen. And right now, right here, more than anywhere else in Northern Ireland, Newry is the place for making big things happen.
We’ve certainly come along way in a short time. Today, the people of Newry are renowned not just for the warmth of our welcome, but also for our willingness to embrace new ideas. We are ambitious, innovative and forward-looking. |

It was these characteristics that saw our historic town being awarded city status in 2002. It is these same characteristics that have realised the many successful developments we’ve seen since. And again it is these characteristics that continue to make Newry one of the hottest inward investment locations in the UK today – one located in the centre of the Belfast/Dublin economic corridor.
But we also recognise that we have a long way to go. So this vision we set out not to only highlight the progress we’ve made since gaining city status, but also to reinvigorate the process of imagining what our many advantages might yet bring us.
And in the process of imaging that future, we invite you to join us as a local business or community leader, as a resident or ex-pat, as a potential inward investor or development agency representative, we invite you to consider the many advantages that Newry and its hinterland can offer you, your family or your business.
