|
So what is our big vision? Well, it’s not one tangible thing. It’s not one mega development. Nor is it one intangible idea. It’s not some flight of fancy. Rather our vision is made up of many parts – each one built on our current strengths and advantages – to create a dynamic vision of Opportunity. A vision that we believe will prove bigger than the sum of its parts.
One the following pages, we look at some of the parts of that vision in more detail and we see how each part is opportunity which is unique in all of Ireland.
We look at how our location provides us with big advantages. As the administrative centre of Newry & Mourne, and as a major regional hub practically equidistant from Dublin and Belfast and at a pivotal point on Ireland’s key economic corridor, our location presents both ourselves and potential inward investors with huge opportunities.
We consider how our economy is powering big developments . In recent years, our economic infrastructure has been totally transformed. Major retail, office, Leisure, commercial and industrial developments have delivered record employment levels and unrivalled opportunities.
We also look at how our people are delivering big successes . Building on the award –winning big for city status, local people and local institutions have organised and supported a host of high profile events. They have won business, sporting and academic recognition. They have taken individual risks and triumphed. They have seized opportunities and added greatly to the reputation of Newry.
But first, we consider our values. We believe that a ser of common values – shared across the community – will help to deliver the big opportunities that we imagine in the Newry of the future. |
