Ours is a community, which has led the way in self- generated economic development. In recent years, home grown entrepreneurs and inward investors have turned Newry into on of the most successful micro economies in northern Ireland. Now we are looking to the future. This is a young city and we are determined that we will not rest on our laurels. We want to make big things happen here – for our young people for everyone.
Since we achieved city status in 2002 there has been much celebrate and much to look forward to. However, it is essential that we all contribute as a community to any vision we may have of the future. And that community includes not only the residents of Newry itself but all the people within the greater community of Newry and Mourne who can also reap the benefits for which is the catalyst.
As we have seen, Newry has come along way in a short few years but looking to the future we recognise that much more needs to be done. our city boasts dynamic and youthful population; we owe it to them to make our city everything it can be. We owe it to them to think big about the future. and if we all allow ourselves to dream about what is possible , we will create a vision for the future that those with the ability and resources can deliver that is the real challenge
