Newry BID has appointed local branding and marketing expert Rowan McKevitt from Climate to develop a new brand for Newry City.
A panel of local stakeholders and interested parties got together and were asked to participate in Phase 1 of establishing a new brand for Newry City through the Newry BID Company. The exercise was a great success with plenty of discussion based on a SWOT analysis of Newry City. Debate around how we see ourselves and the question, ‘are we a city or a town?’ took up some discussion!
We hope to create a brand to put Newry on the map as a destination for shoppers, visitors and investors. A new and exciting interactive website will follow. We want to collectively tackle vacant units, improve our night-time economy and make Newry a vibrant and welcoming place. Our people and businesses take pride in what they do and we want to capture this through a unique brand, identity and voice for the City.
We have engaged professional companies to undertake this work and we have also commenced a series of surveys throughout the City focusing on how we can improve Newry city for all stakeholders and visitors. The next steps in creating a strong brand for our City are underway!
The meeting was held on the 27th June, Newry Arts Centre.
