Are you a Coffee Shop, Café or Restaurant within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area?
Could you contribute to World Mental Health Day on the 10th October 2019?
World Mental Health Day is celebrated around the world on 10th October. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of good mental health and highlight how people can make small changes to their daily routine to promote their mental wellbeing.
This year the World Health Organisation has chosen the theme of suicide prevention. Evidence suggests that social support and connections are key protective factors in preventing suicide. Positive and supportive social relationships and community connections can help. ‘Connect’ is one of the Take 5 steps to wellbeing and meeting up with a friend, colleague or family member and talking over a cup of tea or coffee can help everyone reach this step with ease and enable each of us to talk what is going on in our busy lives, whether it is positive or negative.
Council’s Health and Wellbeing Department are encouraging Coffee Shops, Café’s and Restaurant to celebrate World Mental Health day through offering on the 10th of October:
- 2 for 1 Tea or Coffee
- Mental Health Awareness Information
Any business that wants to participate in this promotion will receive from the Council mental
health awareness information for the 10th of October. Each business will also be part of Council’s World Mental Health day promotion to let the public know which Coffee Shops, Café’s and Restaurant’s are taking part.
If your business is interested in taking part please contact Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Health and Wellbeing Department on: 0300 013 2233.
