Who are Savers?
At Savers we specialise in branded health, home and beauty products at everyday low prices. We stock a wide range of Hair Care, Personal Care, Oral Care, Household Cleaning, Fine Fragrance, Toiletries, Health Care, Skin Care, Food, Drink and Alcohol* products.
Savers: The Past
Savers Drugstore as it was then known opened it’s first store in Durham in 1988. It wasn’t until 1996 that we were renamed Savers Health & Beauty and by the following year the company had grown to 28 stores. In 1998 we opened our first central distribution centre in Darlington. The millennium saw things really take off for Savers, the business acquired the Supersave chain of stores to take Savers to 114 stores before the company was sold to Hong Kong based business AS Watson, who took Savers to 168 shops by the end of the year.
The owners may have changed but our principles of stocking the best branded, health, home and beauty products on the high street at the best prices has remained and this was recognised by the Verdict retail awards 2009 – when we picked up the award for being ‘Number 1 on Price’.
Over the past decade the Savers Family has grown rapidly and in 2013 the 250th Store was opened in Luton. The following year saw Savers win another award from Verdict when we were voted ‘The Best Personal Care Retailer in the UK’.
Savers: The Present
There are currently over 380 stores trading throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with over 3,000 colleagues working for the company. The Sunday Times recently recognised the fantastic career path Savers offer by placing Savers 10th in the prestigious annual list: ‘The Sunday Times Top 30 Best Big Companies to Work For’.
