10 Monster villains have been spotted in Newry and it’s your job to find them!
Newry Business Improvement District (BID) are delighted to announce our second Monster Safari Treasure hunt which will bring a FREE fun, family experience to Newry’s streets this October. The Halloween Safari hunt will take place on Saturday 24th October from 11am – 3pm in Newry City centre.
Monstervillain Safari will give families a fun and safe reason to come back into town and give the high street a much-needed boost in footfall. The Safari works by utilising contactless NFC technology and QR codes and is app-free without the need for players to download or sign up. The Safari consists of 10 window decals, monster villains, with embedded NFC tags that the participating venues will host.
Families can engage with the experience by tapping or scanning each character and learning their names, stories, and powers. Younger children will enjoy spotting the creepy but cute characters and older kids (and grown-up ones) will engage by hearing the stories. After finding all 10 Monster villains, families will be rewarded with a free e-book of their villainous adventure and a Halloween goody bag that will be available to collect at the event space, Marcus Square, Hill Street. As it’s the spooky season families can dress up and there will be prizes for the best fancy dress!
Newry BID manager, Eamonn Connolly said, “We are looking forward to hosting our second Safari Hunt while welcoming everyone back to Newry. It’s great to have many local businesses on board again participating as Monster villain venues. We will continue to support our local business community in the months ahead as we all adjust to new ways of working”.
The safari has been designed completely contactless so that players can only interact in small family groups whilst adhering to social distancing.
