Welcome readers to our fifth newsletter which is the first to be issued since the Newry BID Company formed in March this year. The Newry BID Company is now established and ready for business! We have received start-up funding, put our board in place, invited sub-committee members and advisors to join us and opened our membership register. We look forward to the year ahead where we can start to deliver our Business Plan for Newry City.

MESSAGE FROM NEWRY BID CHAIRPERSON

Christine McElvanna from JMK Solicitors has been appointed to the role of Chairperson for the recently established Newry Business Improvement District Company.

“I am extremely proud to have been selected to Chair the Newry BID. I am excited to be working with other representatives from local businesses, who have come together for the common good. We have a passionate board who will bring fresh ideas and energy”.  Christine added “I would encourage all businesses in the BID area to get involved. We are extremely aware of the many challenges businesses face and the need for us to have a strong voice and influence as stakeholders at the heart of the City. We will only reach our full potential if everyone participates and supports the projects and events we will be running. As a business community we need a strong voice representing our viewpoint. We aim to help this city achieve its full potential as a destination of choice for the local community and tourists alike. I am particularly keen to see local people support their local businesses. We want people to come back into the City and we want Newry to be seen as a great place to live and work”.

THE NEWRY BID COMPANY AIMS TO:

  • Promote Tourism, Heritage and Culture offerings
  • Create a welcoming environment for visiting, working, living and investing
  • Make Newry City more accessible and easy to navigate
  • Save business money with collective purchasing
  • Work in partnership to solve problems affecting trade
  • Promote pride of place for Newry City
  • Co-ordinate the city offerings and promote it through business together
