Newry BID partners with Retailers Against Crime

City center safety is a BID priority and particularly so with increased instances of a crime arising from the cost of living crisis.

Our latest initiative sees Newry BID delighted to announce that we have joined forces with Retailers Against Crime (RAC) to give traders access to the SentrySIS system to log incidents, gather intelligence, and immediately receive alerts about situations to be aware of. The system connects the police, national retailers, and other stakeholders including private security companies together through a suite of crime management and efficiency savings applications. See attached flyer for more detail.

The BID will fund the RACS membership fee and provide this service FREE to fully subscribed BID members who partake in RAC online training.

Newry BID is also providing a radio security scheme giving members a vital communication tool to deal with issues on the ground.

We are growing our partnership with PSNI and Police and Community Safety Partnership and through further investment will see an increased profile from both PSNI officers and Community Safety Wardens in the run-up to Christmas.

Our partnership with local schools continues as we tackle Anti-Social Behaviour.

Newry BIDs’ successful partnership with Newry DEA saw us recently deliver another successful Silver Screening event with over 150 attendees getting a safety briefing and watching a movie at Omniplex.

The BID is continuing to lead on the Purple Flag accreditation that Newry has for a safe Evening and Night-Time Economy.

The BID is following up on our successful lobbying campaign to retain public space CCTV in Newry.
