There is no relay category in the 2019 event.
The 13.1 mile course takes in a scenic coastal route starting with St. Christopher’s Park, Albert Basin, just opposite the Quays Shopping Centre Newry before heading down to Warrenpoint and the historic Narrow Water Castle on the scenic canal carriageway. The route out and back style event has been designed to be a flat, fast and personal best course. One of the flattest and fastest half marathon routes within Ireland. There will be pacers every 5.00m starting at 1.30 up to 2.15 hour groups. Look out for your group at the start line, they will carry different coloured balloons and located within a dedicated zone to ensure that you can all group together before the event begins.
Good locations for spectating are at the initial start and finish line at Albert Basin, Greenbank Industrial Estate and the turning point beside Narrow Water Castle.
All competitors that complete the race will receive a commemorative medal.
All entrants will receive a free race T-Shirt. Guaranteed sizes will only be available until 1st May 2019, after that Newry City Runners will accommodate as best as possible.
As part of the family fun day Newry City Runners will be holding a fun run. The fun run will be geared towards children under 13. Entry forms are available from Newry Credit Union Offices 70/72 Hill Street, Newry. The entry fee will be £2.00 per entrant, payable to the Credit Union or on the day. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Note: On the day entry will only be available if full race capacity is not met beforehand.
Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Once Newry City Runners receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not transfer your application to the following year.
Duplicate entries made in genuine error will be refunded in full.
There will be no parking in Albert Basin on the day, however ample car parking facilities are located around the event including within the Quays Shopping Centre and Buttercrane Shopping Centre.
Marathon at 10:00am sharp.
You will be able to collect your race pack including race number and T-shirt at Newry Gateway Club, located on 20 Kilmorey St, Newry BT34 2DE from 8.00am – 9.30am on the day of the race. This is approx. 5mins walk away from the starting line.
Race Pack Collection will also be available on the day before the event, Saturday 25th May, from 12am to 2.30pm at Newry Gateway Club.
Race numbers must be worn on the front of vests/T-shirts; Note that you may be disqualified if your number is not clearly visible.
The race number incorporates a timing chip – please ensure you wear the number at all times during the race. Loss of a number will mean that your time and position will not be recorded.
The Start Point, located at the bottom of Albert Basin, opposite the Quays Shopping Centre. The Finish Line is located at the start of the entertainment zone, again within Albert Basin.
Runners will be called to the start no later than 9.50am. The front of the start line is reserved for faster runners and for athletes with wheel chairs, which will start two minutes before the main race.
First aiders will be present on the course and at the end of the race. If assistance is required, please contact one of the marshals or a first-aider.
In addition to the toilets provided within Albert Basin, there will also be portable toilets at two points on the course, each of which you will pass twice.
There will four water stations along the route, one each on the outward and inward legs. These will be signposted in advance. There will be sufficient bottles of water available for each runner to obtain one bottle at each station.
If empty, runners are asked to dispose of used bottles into the wheelie bins provided or, if they still contain water, on the road or footpath as near as possible to the water station.
Please do not throw them onto grass verges, over hedges or into gardens.
At the end of the race you should run through the finish line. Do not turn back or stop until you are well clear of the line or unless you are directed to do so by a race official.
All race finishers and walkers will receive a medal on crossing the line.
The timing chip attached to your race number is disposable and does not need to be returned.
A free family entertainment zone will be provided which will include bouncy castle, obstacle courses and face painting.
Prize giving will take place at approximately 12:00pm within the event marquee – maximum one prize per individual.
